Second week of study - Entrepreneurship - Part 02

Still talking about educational paradigms, the HAMK is at the moment working on a very interesting new educational model, they gather students into groups by affinity, define a program to develop the method of Project-Based Learning. Teachers work together to make what they call "Teaching Team" and always work together and in sync so that students can develop their projects at the same time they acquire the knowledge required by the official curriculum. After reach the desired point, the teachers together define a note 1-5 for developed projects. This project still is very new to have evidence of success, but personally I think promising.

After a heavy Monday, we had a 3-day activity in another campus, the Visämaki where we could learn more about entrepreneurship and its nuances through dynamic, activities, classes and lectures. It was very interesting to participate in some activities together with other students of HAMK and also teachers from other countries such as the Netherlands, Denmark, Czech Republic and others.

Returning to our campus, after another personal interview and recorded for analysis of our skills and motivations in VET program - Teacher for the future, Mr Joyce told us about the importance of using our energy and knowledge (read research and studies) to the development of the local community and to illustrate this point, he cited the example of how a common tree in the area of a campus helped produce a new substance that is now widely used in candies as sugar substitutes and also prevents cavities, and discover new utilities for sap and bark of that tree.

Really, I have noticed the commitment of Universities of Applied Sciences to local development, something we have to learn in Brazil and start practicing with urgency.

In closing, I would like to share a Mr Joyce's reflection on the importance of starting classes in English. When starting courses in English, we have the opportunity to open the doors of our institutes for researchers and teachers from around the world,  making have more ease and speed the exchange of knowledge and can improve local development with ideas of people living in different parts of the world and, in the same way, we can open a wide door for our students to have experiences in other institutions and expand their studies. Segunda semana de estudos – Empreendedorismo – Parte 02

Falando ainda sobre paradigmas educacionais, a HAMK está nesse momento trabalhando em um novo modelo educacional muito interessante, eles reúnem os estudantes em grupos por afinidades, definem um programa para desenvolver o método de “Ensino Baseado em Projeto” (PBL – Project-Based Learning). Os professores trabalham juntos formando o que eles chamam de “Time de ensino” e trabalham sempre juntos e em sincronia para que os alunos possam desenvolver seus projetos ao mesmo tempo que adquirem o conhecimento requerido pelo currículo oficial. Após chegar ao ponto desejado, os professores conjuntamente definem uma nota de 1 a 5 para os projetos desenvolvidos. O projeto ainda é muito novo para termos evidência de sucesso, mas pessoalmente o julgo promissor.

Após uma segunda-feira pesada, tivemos uma atividade de 3 dias em outro campus, o Visämaki, onde pudemos aprender mais sobre empreendedorismo e suas nuances através de dinâmicas, atividades, aulas e palestras. Foi muito interessante de participar de algumas atividades juntamente com os outros alunos da HAMK e também professores de outros países como Holanda, Dinamarca, República Checa entre outros.

Retornando ao nosso campus, após mais um entrevista pessoal e gravada para análise de nossas competências e motivações no programa VET – Teacher for the future, Mr Joyce nos falou sobre a importância de usarmos nossas energias e conhecimento (entenda-se pesquisas e estudos) para o desenvolvimento da comunidade local e para ilustrar esse momento, citou o exemplo de como uma árvore comum na área de um campus ajudou a produzir uma nova substância que hoje é amplamente utilizada em doces pois substitui o açúcar e ainda previne cáries, além de descobrir novas utilidades para a seiva e casca dessa mesma árvore.

Realmente, tenho notado o comprometimento das Universidades de Ciências aplicadas com o desenvolvimento local, algo que temos que aprender no Brasil e começar praticar com urgência.

Para encerrar, gostaria de compartilhar uma reflexão de Mr Joyce sobre a importância de iniciar aulas em inglês. Ao iniciar cursos em inglês, temos a oportunidade de abrir as portas de nossos institutos para pesquisadores e professores de todo o mundo, de forma que podemos com muito mais facilidade e rapidez, troca de conhecimento e melhorar o desenvolvimento local com idéias de pessoas que vivem em diferentes partes do mundo e, dessa mesma forma, podemos abrir uma grande porta para nossos alunos terem experiências em outras instituições e ampliar seus estudos.
